In and around Exmouth

The East Devon Districts Countryside Team will be at the Imperial Rec from  Sat 26th May to Monday 27th May.

Wildflower planting activity, Nature based quiz and crafts and info on Wild East Devon.

On the Sunday and Monday there will be two free Mud walks from 10.30am to 12.30pm, meeting opposite the toilets on the entry into Imperial rec. These will be free but places need to be booked in advance via

Come along to a free exhibition to see what members and students have created with the ornaments.

Adult Talks

10am - 11am In the Footsteps of the Invisible Witch with Tracey Norman  

Step back in time with local author and playwright Tracey Norman as she reveals the secrets of an obscure Lyme Regis court case from 1687 and how it inspired her to write her acclaimed play WITCH.

Examine copies of the original court documents, learn about the social history of the time and chat with the author about the play and the various projects leading from it.

1pm - 2pm Return of the Mantra with Susie Williamson

An African fantasy adventure.

2pm - 3pm Death, Disease & Dissection, a horrible history of 19th century medicine by Suzie Grogan

Find out about surgery before anaesthetic, the horrors of body snatching for the dissecting rooms, and the dangers of peddling quack medicines. At the end of this talk you will be even more grateful for the NHS.

3pm - 4pm Requirements of Guilt. A book discussion by David Bazell

A book reading and then an interactive activity where the kids help plan a new time-travel adventure for Brandy & Brinkley and closing with time for a brief Q&A.

1pm - 2pm An exciting craft session based on the Felix Whiter books with Ollie Tooley

Making a secret agent ID card, that can be disguised as a Credit Card. (6-10-year olds)

2pm - 3pm Exploring Romans and Celts with Ollie Tooley.

A craft session for 10-year olds and above.

involving everything you need to know about photographing celebrities including the best positions on the day, passes, payment for passes kit timings and the ladders.

11am - 12pm How To Catch a Publisher with P.J. Reed (£5.00 per person)

This workshop is aimed at writers who want to get their work published through traditional and non-traditional publishing outlets. It reviews the different types of publishing on offer, how to approach publishers, and how to build your market.
